Mercury-ย this astrological force represents the nature of our mind and much of our psychological temperament. The closest planet to the Sun, Mercury represents the changeable mutable qualities of our thinking, as well as our capacities with language and communication. I wanted to talk a little bit about this planet and a few of my favorite plants that it rules.

Alchemical Herb Profile: Red Root (Ceanothus cuneatus)

Red Root, or commonly called โ€œBuckbrushโ€ around here โ€“ is a wild shrubby plant that flourishes all around the hills where we live. Though this variety of Ceanothus is poky, dense, and hardy โ€“ not the most welcoming looking plant around โ€“ it exudes the most sweet, heavenly fragrance throughout the forest while its fluffy creamy clouds of flowers are blooming in the spring.
