Terra Vita 2017: The Quintessential Herbal Monograph

In early March of 2017, I was lucky enough to break away from the frost of Oregon and head down to southern California, visit some old friends, and make some new ones at the Terra Vita Symposium in Laguna Beach. It was an awesome event held at a funky alternative school for kids and brought together the herbal community of southern California.

While there, I had the chance to give 2 presentations. Unfortunately I had some technical difficulties and lost all of my camera footage. Luckily though I was able to capture the audio of this one on my phone, called The Quintessential Herbal Monograph.

I always say one of the best things we can do as herbalists is not only study the plants with consistency, but to really knowย howย to study them. What are the critical pieces of information you have to know about every plant you work with? When you are doing your research on a particular herb, what are the essential things you want to look for, write down, and compile in your own notes?

That is what this lecture is all about. In it, I go through various aspects and elements of a plants unique medicinal virtues and properties- from it’s chemistry and extraction, to the 5 critical pieces of info you need to know to use it holistically, as well as its subtle spiritual and psychological properties.

Herbal Alchemy: The Water Element

Learn how to use the Elements as a lens for classifying and using herbal remedies. The Alchemical herbal perspective involves looking at the planetary rulerships of different herbs, their organ and tissue affinities, as well as providing a sophisticated and refined way of preparing herbal medicines according to astrological influences. In this video, I reveal how the common herb Cleavers (Gallium aparine) relates to the water element, as well as Venus and the lymphatic system.
