In this class you’ll learn the foundations of Alchemical philosophy, which is the essential language of nature. These ancient principles will bring you into deeper relationship with all of creation around you – from the stars, to the earth, to the elements and everything in between.

If you’re interested in herbalism and making your own tinctures & extracts, you’ll learn how to take your medicine making skills to a whole new level. You’ll learn about the 3 philosophical principles of Alchemy and specifically how to extract the mineral salts from your herbal tinctures.

This is a huge missing link in herbal medicine making, as standard tincturing methods leave out this important step of extracting the mineral salts from plants. In Alchemy, it is said that a tincture without the mineral salts is a “disembodied” medicine – it won’t be as grounding or assimilable into the physical body as a Spagyric tincture as it lacks a core aspect of the herb – the wisdom and intelligence of the body of the plant.

This class includes a demonstration of the calcination process where you’ll learn the basics of how to extract minerals from your tinctures in accordance with the Spagyric tradition of Alchemy. You’ll learn everything you need to know to begin preparing your own Spagyric tinctures.

At some point in all of our lives, we have experienced trauma of one kind or another. Within these wounds lives a great reservoir of strength and medicine that can be accessed and expressed through the transformation that healing brings.

This class is focused on how to use plant medicines to cleanse, heal and restore the body and spirit from trauma. Medicinal plants have the capacity to not only heal the deepest wounds on the physical, spiritual, emotional and mental levels, but are also profound teachers- showing us how to carry ourselves in a new way and walk in the world empowered in all facets of our being.

In this class you will learn specific herbs you can work with to transform those wounded places within into your strength, your gifts, and powerful medicine.

We will cover four layers of healing through trauma and specific plant allies to help you through each phase. You’ll learn about herbs that are cleansing, healing, rejuvenating, and protecting to have allies to walk with you through every step of your healing journey.

To ground your connection to the plants you learn about in the class, you’ll have an opportunity to taste a Spagyric extract of each herb discussed. Through these tastings, you’ll learn about heart perception and how to attune yourself to learn directly from the plants.

You’ll come away with an empowered understanding of how to bring plant medicines into your life with specific preparations, rituals and practices for working with herbs for healing trauma. What were once the roadblocks to moving forward in your life will become the catalyst for awakening your deepest gifts.

We can see the connection between the two simply through the similar etymology of the words. Throughout the Renaissance Era, Medical Astrology was common knowledge for practitioners of medicine and herbalism, but for some reason it is almost unheard of in our modern practice. Medical Astrology holds a critical place in a truly holistic model of herbalism. In this intensive, you will learn how to incorporate astrological principles in your practice of herbalism through classification of plants and their medicinal properties, holistic evaluation, diagnostics and psycho-spiritual assessment of your clients, as well as the harvesting of herbs and their spagyric (alchemical) preparation. You will learn how the Planets, Signs, Elements and Modes of astrology relate to other energetic systems, such as Ayurveda, Chinese Medicine, Unani-Tibb and Greek Medicine, and North American Herbal Traditions for a truly “whole-istic” model of plant medicine that unites the above and below, the spirit and body of both people and plants.

Sajah is one of the core faculty at Herb Pharm's internship program and he teaches there consistently throughout the year. He teaches classes on Spagyrics, traditional Alchemy, Medical Astrology, the history of Western Herbalism and more. He also teaches Herbaculture interns here at our own Organic Unity Spagyrics Lab on occasional field trips the students take throughout their course.
