THE LAND

We're located on a 120 acre homestead in the mountains of Southern Oregon.

We're surrounded by wilderness, nestled in the heart of nature. It's peaceful and beautiful here. Without noise or light pollution, you'll be able to see the stars at night and be sung to sleep by the frogs by the pond. We invite you to take this opportunity to unplug and drop into a deeper state of listening to your intuitive self. This will open up a doorway for you to connect in a more profound way to the nature within and around you.

There is no cell phone service out here and it is rustic, so please be aware that you'll be away from the comforts of the city. There is no internet or phone access here - except for emergency use only. We will not be able to provide wi-fi access so please take care of all of your internet needs prior to coming out here.

You'll need to be aware that we're sharing this home with other creatures you may not be used to. There are ticks, rattlesnakes, bears, and mountain lions in this bioregion, so it's important to pay attention to your surroundings while you're hiking on the land. There's also a lot of Poison Oak in the forests around the land, which may cause a rash or irritation on the skin for some people who come into contact with it. We'll help you identify this plant when you arrive, but please use caution when stepping off the trails.

How to Get Here:

We're outside of Jacksonville, Oregon. If you're flying in, the closest airport is the Medford International Airport, a 30 minute drive from our place. We're located out in the country, so there is no public transportation to the land here. If you need to make arrangements from the airport, please connect with another attendee to arrange a ride (see the links at the bottom of this section to access the rideshare forum).

Click the link below here to download a PDF file with instructions for how to get to the school. Please read the instructions very carefully and follow them exactly. You can use your GPS for a reference to make sure you're on track, but be sure to make sure you're following the route we explain in this PDF. Sometimes GPS takes you down some strange and indirect side roads. Also know that you will loose cell reception on your way out here so we suggest printing these directions to bring with you.

Note: Just right click and select "Save File As" or "Save Target As" to download the file

Transportation & Rideshare:

We don't provide transportation to or from the workshop location, so you'll need to take care of all your transportation needs on your own.

However, we've setup a rideshare forum for you to connect with other students who will be traveling out here for the workshop. If you're needing a ride or offering a ride, you can post it here in the link below for which workshop you'll be attending.

THE CLASSROOM

The workshops are held in a 30 ft. yurt on the land we call home.

The yurt will be your home base while you're at the workshop. This is where we'll have our main class sessions & lectures and where we'll share meals. We'll have a beverage station setup at all times so you can help yourself to water, tea & coffee during classes & breaks. You're welcome to enjoy our library of herbal & alchemical books, and are welcome to hang out here outside of class times in the company of fellow students.

For seating, we will be providing backjack floor chairs. We will have a few seats on the couch and some standard height chairs available for anyone who would be more comfortable sitting in a chair. Please bring whatever you need to feel comfortable- extra cushions, blankets, or your favorite camping chair, for example. We will be sitting in lecture for large portions of the day, interwoven with plant sits outside, therefore, please bring whatever supplies you need to be cozy inside and outside. Since we will also be spending time outside, please be prepared for any kind of weather (hot, cold, rainy or sunny- the weather is somewhat unpredictable). We suggest bringing a small tarp to sit on while outside on plant sits as the ground can be moist in the morning.

LODGING

On-Site Camping

You're welcome to camp out on the land here in your tent or personal vehicle at no extra cost. We don't provide camping gear, so you'll need to bring all of your own equipment with you if you chose to camp.

We have showers and composting toilets for guests to use while staying here. If camping and using composting toilets is too rustic for you, we suggest that you look into other options for lodging nearby.

Off-Site Lodging

If you'd prefer to stay in a more comfortable location instead of camping on-site, here are some ideas of other options. Please be aware that if you chose to stay off-site, your lodging costs are your responsibility - we do not cover any additional lodging outside of camping on-site.

- Applegate River Lodge - approx. 11 miles away
- There are some Air B&B's nearby - you can search near Little Applegate & Ruch for the closest options
- There are a number of inns in Jacksonville, which is 20 min away.
- There is a hostel in Ashland, which is 45 min away
- The Jackson Wellsprings in Ashland has tipis available to rent out (45 min away)
- There are many different hotels in Medford (30 min away)

NOURISHMENT

We will be providing meals throughout the weekend so that you can focus your time and energy on being present for the classes. All of the food is organic and vegetarian (with vegan options and possibly some meat options too) with produce grown by local farmers. We will also be providing snacks throughout the day, along with an assortment of teas & coffee.

All meals are gluten free, soy and peanut free. If you have any true allergies to any foods please contact us so we can do our best to meet your needs, but we can't make any guarantees that we'll be able to cook special meals for you. We'll need to be notified at least 3 weeks prior to the workshop to make any changes to the meals. However, we're unable to cater to everyone's food preferences, so if you have a specific diet you're following it's up to you to bring food for yourself to meet your needs.

If there are any specific snacks or foods that are important for you to feel nourished, please bring those yourself so that you're comfortable. Keep any foods or snacks out of your tent to avoid any disturbances from animals. If you want to bring any extra food, please keep your own cooler in your car so that we don't have any run-ins with wildlife. We do have a small fridge in the classroom if you want to bring a few items to store in there. Please do NOT bring your own camp stove - the climate here is very hot & dry and we have to use extreme caution to avoid starting wildfires.

If you need to pickup any extra food for yourself for the weekend, we suggest you go shopping before you arrive. We're a 30 min drive from the nearest natural food store in Medford, and a 15 min drive from the nearest country general store (which doesn't have many options). Once you get here, you'll want to be fully present for the workshop, so take the time to get anything you need before heading out here.

Meal Schedule

- Thursday: Snacks when you arrive & Dinner
- Friday: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner + Snacks all day
- Saturday: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner + Snacks all day
- Sunday: Breakfast, Lunch & Snacks

HOW TO PREPARE

We'll be spending time both indoors and outdoors throughout the weekend, so we recommend packing whatever will support your utmost comfort throughout your time here. We'll be spending time in nature on herb walks & plant sits and doing some mild hiking here on the land. The weather can vary a lot here depending on the time of year, so be prepared for anything from rain to a lot of sunshine - cold nights to very hot days.

Again, we're tucked away in the countryside, so please be sure to bring whatever you'll need with you since it's a long drive to town if you forget anything. Make sure you pack the suggested items on this list along with anything else you'll need and please comply with our policies around what not to bring to the workshop as well.

What to Bring:

- Any snacks, beverages or foods that you want to have with you (please note we have small fridge in the classroom but please mindful of the space. You can bring a cooler through we ask you keep it in your car and please don't bring your own camp stove- no fires allowed!!)

- Notebook & writing utensils

- Class notes printed out (optional)

- For campers: all of your camping gear (tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, pillow, blankets, your toiletries, tarps, etc.) We are unable to provide camping gear.

- Any cushions or blankets you'd like have to be cozy during class time

- Water bottle

- Towel & swimsuit if you chose to go swimming in the spring-fed pond on the land (it's awesome for cooling down on super hot days)

- Appropriate clothes for either cold, rainy or very hot weather (a good warm coat, rain gear, layers, etc.) Note: the weather can fluctuate throughout the day, so be prepared for both hot and cold days or nights.

- Walking/hiking shoes

- A tarp to sit on the ground while doing plant sits in case the ground is wet (optional though recommended)

- Sunscreen and sun hat

- A smile, an open heart and mind, and all of your positive energy, presence, enthusiasm, and willingness to learn and grow throughout the weekend!

- No drugs, alcohol, or cannabis (unless you have a prescription for genuine medical use)

- No dogs or pets

- No camping stoves, candles, lighters *

- NO SMOKING tobacco, cannabis or anything else *

GUIDELINES & POLICIES

Respecting Land & People Policies

To attend the workshop, you will be required to sign a liability release form when you arrive. This agreement states that you take full responsibility for yourself while you are here and that you are aware of the natural dangers of the wildlife and terrain here.

Please be respectful of the land here where the workshop is held. This is our home and we ask that you respect our privacy around our house and the other tenants on the property. Please do not litter, leave any trash or personal belongings here, or disturb the wildlife. Please be respectful of the space here and do not be disruptive, loud, or rude to any of the other students or residents on the land.

We have a no drug & alcohol policy. Please do not bring any drugs, alcohol, or recreational cannabis out here on the property. We ask that everyone refrain from partaking in any of these substances/plants throughout the entire weekend to maintain the utmost clarity in our time together and with the specific plants we will be studying.

* We're in an extreme fire zone and have strict policies restricting any smoking, campfires, campstoves or anything that could start a fire. Do not leave any jars or glass bottles of water outside where they could magnify the sunlight and start a fire.

We are inclusive of ALL people, regardless of nationality, gender, race, sexuality, disability, age, education, etc. We have zero tolerance for discrimination towards any other workshop participants or peoples. Anyone who behaves in a disrespectful or discriminatory manner will be asked to leave the property immediately and will be removed from the workshop with no refund or compensation.

We do our very best to make this work available to as many people as possible. If you have any special needs or concerns which may interfere with your participation in the workshop, please contact us and let us know how we can support and accommodate you to the best of our abilities. If you have a specific pronoun or way you'd prefer to be addressed, please inform us so that we can treat you with the utmost respect.

Cancellation & Refund Policies

Please do not register for a workshop unless you're fully committed to attend. If you sign up we expect you to show up on time and stay until the weekend workshop is complete. There are many others who want to participate in this class, so please only reserve your seat if you're positive you can attend.

These events take a lot of planning, including pre-ordering the food & produce that's hand-picked by local farmers especially for our workshop - therefore we're unable to offer refunds if you cannot attend the workshop. We plan the workshop around how many participants we're expecting, so the staffing and food planning is sufficient to support the needs of our students. Unfortunately, we've had to change our refund policy due to many last minute cancellations in the past which ended up wasting a lot of food & finances.

In the event that you need to cancel, you're welcome to find a replacement to take your seat, but that has to be worked out on your own. We're not responsible for finding you a replacement or compensating you for the investment you made when purchasing your ticket. Please understand these policies are non-negotiable.

If we have to cancel the workshop for any reason, we will give you a full refund for the tuition you paid to attend the workshop. We cannot compensate you for any travel expenses or losses you may have due to the cancellation. Unfortunately, this happened last year and we had to cancel our workshop due to wildfires a few miles from our home, so it is a possibility though rare.

WE'LL SEE YOU SOON!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read all of this to prepare yourself for the upcoming workshop. We look forward to meeting you and having you here at our home. We hope you're getting as excited as we are!

Please give us a call at (833) 988 4433 if you get lost on your way out here or if you have any issues that come up. We'll be in touch again with a reminder about a week before the workshop.

Take care!
